davekillcountysmith A truly remarkable debut. Dear Blanca’s sound is so wonderfully unique. Yet, right from where it began, they come across as a band that have had years of practice at honing and controlling their original style. Favorite track: Griping.

Travis Button Got the same feeling when I heard this track by Dear Blanca that I had the first time I heard John McCauley of Deer Tick sing Baltimore Blues No. 1. Different yes, but reminiscent in the dirty vocals that bleed through the equally dirty instrumentation with words that feel like they mean something. Could also easily draw comparisons to The Districts which is definitely not a bad thing. Favorite track: Havana Tonight.

Couldn't dress him up enough to make the fool look serious They say at least he's fuckin' up in a better place I remember how he talked so loud and God, I hate to put him down but every time he came around he talked about himself Honestly, Honestly, Honestly, could you ever see him going anywhere? My skin won't take to this makeup Close the lid, I've had enough Well my opinions don't mean much if no one thinks I'm here For once my voice won't carry far but once I find out where you are I'll try my best to fill you in on everything I'm doing.. Honestly, Honestly, Honestly, could you ever see this going anywhere?

Griping 05:12
Keep the line open I know you're young and we both like to talk but here's to hoping they still care and they will call Quit going in my bedroom and leaving the room with the T.V. on I pick up behind you but you're old enough to do that on your own What did they say? Run the tape again I think that I just heard my name What was that? Run the tape back I know that I just heard my name I know where you've been cuz you never turn off the lights when you go and you're dad got pissed when he couldn't find the remote control Well you're just like him You can't hand over the controls You're one of five men that constantly shake hands with themselves

Musclehead 04:06
Can you take my dog? I named him after me and I'm moving off this street I can trust you, man I know you'll treat him well and I'll see him when I can... Oh, I won't make a move I'll stay in my room they're saying "where's the money at?" Oh, there's nothing I can do It is what it is I just hope they don't shoot back Hey, I know it's late.. You don't know me but it's straight Help me get to the hospital! God, I need a ride Can we just talk inside? Don't worry I won't kill you.. Oh, I won't make a move I'll stay in my room they're saying "where's the money at?" Oh, there's nothing I can do It is what it is I just hope they don't shoot back We set the car on fire and she set Ben off again It's always something here on Senate Street I'll sit on my porch while he calls his girl a whore I'm frozen in his good graces Oh, I won't make a move I'll stay in my room they're saying "where's the money at?" Oh, there's nothing I can do It is what it is I just hope they don't shoot back

Comrade 04:23
What is there to say? I'm feeling down I'm staring at my face, I'm such a clown I didn't see it coming, I guess I really couldn't but man, I wish that you were still around I woke up from a dream that you were in.. convinced that I had just seen my old friend The last time that I saw you I sang a song of mine about the search for shade in the summertime Reality is slowly sinking in The gravity of things has got me pinned I'll never make sense of why you're gone I've come to peace but I'm not moving on Everyday I long to reminisce My comrade and my friend you're truly missed and I think of you often, the good times that we had For the time I spent with you, I'm glad

A-HA 03:38
They're talking My hearing just keeps getting worse I'm not him but he has a way with words Take it out on me, babe You have my pride, that's all that I can give to you Well the bag ripped Now you're letters are sailing across town and I'm leaving Tell me who's like their mother now Take it out on me, babe You have my pride, that 's all that I can give to you

No Protector 04:37
She's gone and I'm falling for every stupid, sappy line I hear My heart is breaking, tears are falling Can someone change the station for me, please? Soon there gonna send someone to tell me that I just need to find a tree to climb With someone else's words directed at my dad when just like me he thought he lost his mind Soon be home, babe Soon be mine Soon lose track of your precious time Memory lane is in the worst part of town and it worries me when you go by yourself and you're right, I'm no protector but tell me, what are you? You're a stubborn girl too proud to ask for help Soon be home, babe Soon be mine Soon lose track of you precious time

You were so much more then a roadside white cross You shed your royal blood to wear a crown of moss I ride beside a friend laid flat and pressed so thin They found us when they found the car Surrounded! Do they know who you are? You wore your favorite shirt on your last day with us Buried on your throne with flakes of gold and rust If he asks you how I've been what will you tell him? Can we meet at his parents house? Is that where you are now? You wore your favorite shirt on your last day with us Buried on your throne with flakes of gold and rust

I can't stand seeing you like this My heart is chipping away I know that you're not really emotionless and it's selfish to ask you to stay I'll never forget the look on your face while I hoped that I had made you proud You sat there and smiled while we played and that means so much to me now And we'll dance to Besame Mucho and I know that you will soon feel better But know this before you go I will love you forever Rest your head and close your eyes Know that I'm thinking of you It kills me to know that you're living in pain and there's nothing that I can do And we'll dance to Besame Mucho and I know that you will soon feel better But know this before you go I will love you forever

Just breathe in and out and count to twelve It seems like a joke but it can help
